Fences

Troy Maxson

As one of my breakout performances, this project holds a very special place in my heart. I couldn’t have worked with a better team, who provided me the support and guidance I needed to elevate my act. This student-directed show took place in a black box theatre. I received outstanding actor in a leading role award. By far one of the most challenges and exciting roles I've had. -Directed by Joshua Wallace.

Love's Labour Lost

Berowne

I wanted to truly embody the essence of the role, and fully get into character. The performance required me to better learn how to sing and dance or how to sing and do anything. This show had a massive set and I was constantly asked to bring the energy to the show. I sang the opening number, which set the tone for the rest of the show. With a culmination of beautiful lighting and fun music we turned Shakespeare's play into a rock/pop musical that Alex Timbers and Michael Friedman intended it to be. This was done at PLU, but directed by guest director Philip Lacey. Musical Direction from Tyler Dobies.

Broadway Today!

Ensemble/Soloist

Broadway Today was a musical revue, jammed packed with talent and a very short rehearsal schedule. This 3 week process was one of the most challenging an thrilling performances I've ever had. Co-directed by PLU's Artistic Director Tom Smith, and one of PLU's best, Madison Willis. This show had a talented cast of 13, (Generally PLU's revues have closer to 20) with many diverse performances. This show reminded me of the importance of acting while singing and establishing a point of view. Musical Direction by Zachary Kellogg.

Master Harold and The Boys

Sam Semela

This was by far one of my most challenging and exhilarating experiences. Not only was Sam much older than I, but he was also from another country. On top of understanding the jokes of the time and the historical relevance, we had to learn the lingo and craft our best attempt at a South African accent. This show was the hardest I've ever worked on a character, and the most prepared I've ever felt going into a tech week. I cried and laughed harder than ever before on stage. Athol Fugard's show will always have a special spot in my heart. - Directed by Jeff Clapp

Ragtime; The Musical

Coalhouse Walker Jr.

Directed by Vicki Webb, Musical Direction from Debbie Armstrong and Choreography by Indeah Harris. At the dawn of a new century, everything is changing...and anything is possible. Set in the volatile melting pot of turn-of-the-century New York, three distictly American tales are woven together - that of a stifled upper-class wife, a determined Jewish immigrant, and a daring young Harlem musician - united by their courage, compassion, and belief in the promise of the future. Together, they confront history's timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair, and what it means to live in America.
